Who We Are
The culture at River City Church can best be defined as “real,” and can be attributed to our desire to create a safe place for anyone to take that next step in their journey with God. Our hope is that each person will leave each week knowing that they have encountered God in a freeing and worshipful way.

Our History
Our journey began in 2007, when Jonathan Dunn began to sense the activity of God in his life with a focus on leading a church to reach the people that were currently put off by church. He felt that God was clearly calling him to begin a new church in the Memphis area with the vision to, “refocus our city back to God.” This vision would mean, that River City Church would passionately pursue helping each person refocus their life back to God, each family refocus back to God, and even help lead the church to refocus back to God.
With this vision in mind, Jonathan began bringing together small groups in his home in the fall of 2008 and continued adding “pioneers” for this new church into groups up through February 2010. With great excitement, on Sunday, March 7, 2010, River City Church “launched” as an every week church gathering, and have continued to experience the fulfillment of this vision by each week seeing people take steps in “refocusing” their life, family, and church back to God!

Our Mission, Vision and Strategy
At River City Church, we are passionate in expressing our mission, vision, and strategy in clearly defined ways. We are a church on mission to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s why we exist, and why we do what we do each week in our gatherings. We are also a church with a vision to refocus each life, each home, and the church back to God. This vision is something that permeates through all of our environments from Family Ministry to our small group gatherings. A refocus is needed and a refocus is what we see as a unique call on this church. Finally, we strive to make our mission and our vision a reality within the lives of those that attend RCC by creating irresistible environments, where we hope to achieve three key things: intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders. From our worship experience to our small group gatherings throughout the week, we hope to have these three elements illuminate both our mission and our vision for all those who are a part of RCC.

Our Beliefs
About the Scriptures
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
About Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
About the Christian Life
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.
About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.
About Humanity
We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
Come and enjoy the relaxed, friendly atmosphere where people accept you for who you are.
